ParticipantLatest is bad news unfortunately. I fitted a new tyre a couple of months ago which was bought over a year ago now. Bike failed an MOT yesterday on that tyre having cracks deep in the tread, and it has done 2 miles to the MOT station since fitting and was stored nicely before being fitted.:-(
Now have to get the wheel out again, this time I’m taking it somewhere to get the tyre fitted with a guarantee.

MichaelParticipantHi Dougyt,
what was that for a make of tires?
We had that issue some time (1 or 2 years) ago with Bridgestone BT45.
Bridgestone swapped them under warranty!

KaptainkwakKeymasterTotal bummer dude. Front or rear?

ParticipantRear tyre, old one was a BT45 but replaced it with a new Avon Road Rider.
Took the wheel out on Saturday and got a new BT45 fitted locally. Retested yesterday and passed so now on the road again. A little wary of fitting the front Avon tyre so may just get another BT45 fitted to it.I now dislike Avon tyres 🙁

ParticipantI’m using BT 45’s and haven’t had any problems, good tyre’s.

KaptainkwakKeymasterI use the BT 45’s too. They’ve never let me down

MichaelParticipantI am going to buy a set of BT45 as well. Except the mentioned issues with some tyres during a short period of time the are “liked” all the way ;-)))
The Metzelers ME33 (front) and ME55A (rear)were a bad choice.
The rear tire is flattened and worn in the middle after just 4.000 km.Michael

ParticipantFirst of all thanks to KaptainKwak for pointing me at a genuine front mudguard on Ebay, snapped it up and got it fitted and it improves the front end quite a bit. Also got around to fitting a nice new brake line at the rear and fitting a new starter solenoid.

KaptainkwakKeymaster4000km! That is poor. I generally get about 8000 on a rear and front probaby 12000 with the BT’s
I use to use BT20’s on my ZRX (Michelin Pilots now). They are a very good all rounder.
