I believe I read that the early z750s had a problem with their rotor/stator setup, any info about possible cures? anyone know where there might be spares?

TomThere are places which will re-wind the stators or rotors, I found some before when I found my own one was u/s. There was one place which did a service exchange if they had one in stock.
A search on Google will produce results, as I lost all my links when my hard drive crashed.I haven’t had any more problems with mine since somebody on the old site sent me a repaired one they had. What problems have you heard of specifically?
