ParticipantI’ve been in contact with a guy who’s selling (what appears to be mint condition) 1977 twin with 28,000 miles on.
He wants £5,000 for it.Looking at the picture it does look showroom condition.
I’m going to check it out tomorrow, any ideas what to ask him ?I’m curious why he’s selling such a well kept bike, with such low mileage.
Do you think the £5,000 price tag is a bit high ?Keith

KeymasterIn my opinion £5000 is excessively high for a twin in any condition. I believe i have seen the same bike and yes the condition does appear to be excellent.
The highest price i had seen till this one was £3000. This bike didn’t sell and eventually dropped to £2200 and i haven’t seen it since so do not know if it sold. One of our members sold an excellent example for about £2500 last year.
I would suggest a starting price of £3000 and reduce the offer for every defect found. Starts 1st time on the button. No oil leaks.
No unusual rattles. Everything works and is original. After saying all that i would love him to get the £5000 as it would make my stocks at least double in value

ParticipantIt turned out the bike is in a shop now, the guy I spoke too was part of the staff.
I walked away and left it after your advice, may go back later and see if he’ll take a lower offer. Thanks for the help.

Beautifully restored ’78 Kawasaki KZ750 twinShe has been lovingly restored over a number of years, everything has been powder coated or re chromed. It has also been uprated with twin front disc brakes, Amal carbs and a cafe racer (megaphone) exhaust which sounds awesome! I have had the starter motor reconditioned but the epicyclic gearing (in the front of the starter) needs looking at (spare part can be bought from the states for £80, i will sort this if asking price is met) kick starting has been fine for me.
She is Mot;d for 10 months and taxed til april.
good luck.19th January 2014 at 11:11 pm #10446Kaptainkwak

ParticipantThere’s great 77 example of a B2 on EBay just now.
A missing headlight and front indicators.
It seems it’s America just now but will be imported, all import money paid.Any thoughts on this ?

KeymasterTo me that one is a buyer if your after one. The missing parts can be got (may need restoring) but it is very original. They are also offering the help and advice on registering in the UK.
Not one for me but my vote is yes

KeymasterOne big thing to note is it does have original exhausts. They are very rare especially in the UK

KeymasterThat’s a shame. They possibly just had a proxy bid on that was higher than yours. I leave my bidding till 3 seconds to go. If it has already gone above my bid i leave it
