Hi Mark. I’m currently replacing the US type seat base on my B3 with the UK type it it’s use of any use. Also currently looking at the exhaust pipe header problem and might have an answer soon. If KaptainKwak sees your post I’m sure he will respond.

    Hi Marksav

I can definitely supply a seat and depending exactly what you want I can possibly help with the exhaust too.

Exhausts can be made and I am currently in talks with a new guy i’ve met local to me in Bolton who can make them. He has also pointed me towards another who specialises in making classic bike exhausts. I will report back when I have more information.

Good luck with your restoration and please share your progress with us.

Thanks for the offer Cole but I prefer the euro seat. KK I would like that seat please let me know how much you want for it. My idea was to cut off the silencers and balance pipe flange ,weld up the hole and fit triumph angled adaptor pipes with dunstall copy silencers. But my header pipes are pretty corroded even for rechrome. I know Dave Higgs of higgspeed really well and was thinking of asking him if he could copy my downpipes and he would use stainless, but he may be too busy or not able to.

That’s fine Marksav, I don’t like the US seat either! I think the pipes we are looking at will be stainless. Have a look at the Wemoto site for silencers for the Z750B, they have them made by Marvings in Italy and they are the correct shape and size, based on the originals, but without the welded seam. Also the connectors are correctly angled to fit onto the original pipes when the original welded-on silencers are cut off.

Well, I don’t think any of us have found that one before! Do you want to find out if it’s still available and if so how much? If they do it with the balance pipe as well that would be interesting. Also can they do pipes and silencers separately? Over to you, it’s worth checking out the options.

That is indeed a great find Smiddl. I have not heard of them and will also chase them up. Thank you for sharing which is exactly the spirit this site is about.

The US seat as you refer to is from the G model which was predominately an American model and stepped. The B models had a much flatter seat with US versions not have the pillion strap. However all 5 models had the same seat base.

What is it you need Marksav? I can offer a seat base and/or foam. The foam may need to be covered with a thin foam layer. I can also offer a complete usable seat but as you say you are restoring your B4 I assume whatever you get you will be getting it recovered. If so I can highly recommend Leightons in Birmingham. they did an excellent job of mine which looks very original for £130. That included blasting and painting of the seat base too.

    Cheers

I’ve spoken with OSpipes and yes they still do a 750 twin exhaust. They are not a stock item, they are made to order and he would need the bike for a day. At around £600 (like the one in the picture) it is not cheap but it is fully polished in Stainless Steel and comes with all brackets and fittings. The price may vary according to exactly what you want.

kk just a seat base would be great please ! the chromers i use want £600 to do my originals and thats after i repair and plate them and burn them out plus the headers would never look good with all the rust pitting anyway. my serial no. starts 38 and its brown etc. so a b4 but has b2 forks ? none of it appeared to have been apart before with 19k miles. engine internals are perfect except for one top piston ring snapped in half ! but not effecting anything as valves, plugs etc. are nice colour with no piston blow by at all. i reckon it broke on assy. at the factory ? any thoughts ?
