<p style=”text-align: left;”>How tight is too tight? I’m looking for a little bit of advice after finally getting off the starter clutch and waiting for my gaskets to arrive I have just checked the owners manual for the correct torque settings for the flywheel bolt and just wanted to check that this is not a misprint and the actual torque setting is 87/101 ft-lbs not being an engineer but quite good at twiddling a spanner this seems rather high, any thoughts cheers Pat.</p>
Hi Patrick,
if that bolt is a 12mm one as used in B3 and later engines (G, M, S, Y, K models), the value is correct (130 Nm).
If the bolt is a 10mm one as used in the B1 and B2 engines only, the value is 75 Nm !
Cheers, Michael
PS: Use a little bit of Loctite medium (not the strong one!) on the thread.
