If you can fit the stems, I’d go with that. 0.5mm off each side doesn’t sound a lot, but there is a lot of stress put on those yokes with road bumps and stopping happening at the same time. The metal is old, and I’d like to keep all the material I could there if it was me.
when i had my 500 triple i used kh250 34mm yokes and bored them for 36mm forks and had no problem, half a mil should be fine 😀
or get a big file and totally philpass them hehehehehehehe 😀
I have recently purchase a complete GPZ750A front end with excellent forks. The forks on the GPZ are 37mm dia & the existing forks are 36mm dia. My question is … Is it advisable to bore the existing yokes out to 37mm dia to accept the GPZ forks, or would it be best to swap the stems ???? In effect I would only be removing 0.5mm per side off the bore – there seems to be enough metal to allow for the increase. What do you think lads ??
