I have heard that the data logging gear is in the post, apparently some disreputable types knowing that they have been flashed are using plantpots full of thermite placed on top of the post lit with sparklers, the thermite exits through the hole in the pot and guts the post.
Worse yet all the ingredients for thermite (iron oxide and aluminium powder) are readily available on ebay, as are sparklers!
