Understand Engine Oil.

I had been looking for what is the best oil for the Air cooled 750 Twins.

I have been informed by Michael that 20/50 Mineral Oil is what he uses and he thinks his bike is running better on it!

That will do for me! I trust the opinion of somebody with as many years experience with Kawasaki 750cc Twins as Michael has!

But what does all this oil Specs mean?

Don’t forget, some components (clutch, gaskets) need the mineral oil. Don’t use synthetic oil in a Twin.

I know the name of that manufacturer but they don’t offer their products to the mass market in Germany.

What is the regular price for this ?

We got the same oil today when we picked our wheels up.

It was £17 for a 5 litre can. Far cheaper than any other we had found.

Hi guys,

that is a good price !
Have to pay around 20 to 25 Euros but for a 4 liter canister.
So that is pretty much the same.
I can see more and more recommendations and offers for the 20W-50 motor oil for air cooled youngtimers.
It is on the way to achive same acceptance for youndtimers as BT45 tires already have 🙂

In the USA all of the fluid zinc or zinc powder has been removed from automotive oil because of the EPA. The zinc coated internal engine parts and helped engines live longer. We use diesel engine oil as most of it still has zinc and some cases titanium added to the oil. There are also several motorcycle oils that work too. The old BMW airhead guys are on top of this so check their forums.
