Hi, I’m about to come into ownership of a Z750 and need to modify the electrics to suit a special purpose:
I want to remove all the standard wiring, then rewire the bike to run without a battery or starter motor.
A killer switch will also be needed.

Does anyone have any ideas or tips please?

    Regards,

    Stephen

The starter shouldn’t pose any real problems as you have a kickstart to use. The kill switch is already there but just kills power to the coils (and starter I believe).
As for running with no battery, that may be a bit more difficult. The charge system may require some modification to get it to output voltage without any input to the exciter coil.
There are specialist companies who may be able to supply an alternative setup to run just the ignition coil. That would have to be investigated and may take a few emails or phonecalls to find one.
Nothing’s impossible though, and I’ll look out some numbers in the magazines I have here.
