Off the shelf alloy fuel cell ordered from Chinabay on WEDNESDAY – arrived today [ Saturday ] £56 delivered AND it has aircraft fuel cap and all the AN alloy fittings !!
Big shout out to Rich of…[Read more]

Yes Phil,
Colourways are important to get the period feel. I had already decided [ 7 years ago with the aborted TR1 B/T ] colours would be a light coffee with cream [ buttermilk ] contrast. Then I came across the H-D tracker pictured above and that convinced me. Hence the bike name “Cafe Creme”
I’ve had to abandon the styling cue of the…[Read more]

Moving along nicely now – most of the major parts are either in stock or on the way !
Mocked up the Bantam forks with the Honda XLR250 front wheel – yep it will all fit. I wanted the style of girder forks that Motobecane [ and others ] use – a banana shape. I came up with a cunning plan to mod the Bantam forks to give that look. Again – POC using…[Read more]

With my health issues not resolved but stabilised, time for one last project ?? Having ended up with the early motor [ Weber ] as a “spare” and not suitable for the blower – what to do with it ?
On a recent cull in my garage [ continuing cull ] I came across a hoard of Boardtracker parts I had been collecting for one of my Yamaha TR1 projects.…[Read more]

A new year – a new start.
First day in the garage and we have finally [ !! ] fitted up the front forks – oil and actually got the caps on without cross threading them ! What a fargin stupid design !! The wheel has been centralised ready to be measured for the new spindle / spacers, then that’ll be the front end buttoned up. STILL need a fork…[Read more]

Hi Richh,
YES PLEASE !! A spare frame would be absolutely ideal to mock the blower motor up. As you will have read – the rolling chassis is now round at my pal’s – that’s great, but means there’s no ref point back in my shed for the blower set up. Depending on where you are I can collect, or probably good old Hermes is probably the best way.…[Read more]

I bought the bends [ Stainless ] as “random bends” from a company on e-bay. I’ll dig out the link. They were not expensive – 6 bends of various radius’.
Unbelievably this mockup was fitted “out of the box” with no cutting / mods so far.
The top pipe needs to be about 2″ shorter where it enters the ex. stub and about the same where it goes into…[Read more]

back to the main plot …… what a difference a day makes – or to be precise – half a day !
As well as the obvious progress in the pix, the blower manifolding / mountings have been worked out as well as the carb intake for the SU – which I guarantee will make you go weak at the knees ! . The exhaust has been swung over to the other side – and…[Read more]

Over the past week I’ve been looking into the blower drive take off that I was contemplating – ie from the alternator fixing bolt [ 12mm ]. It’s the only logical / practical place, but I was concerned about the torsional shear stress on the fixing. The blower will take around 15 – 20 bhp to drive, but it’s the inertia that needs to be overcome…[Read more]

Moving news ……………. the bike ramp has been moved round to my pal’s garage and the frame / forks and wheels will be round there mid – week. I’ve already moved most of the parts – just the big parts to go next – fairing, seat, tank cover etc.
I’m keeping the blower parts in my shed as I’ll need them to mock up the mounts, manifolds etc.…[Read more]

So …………………. thanx to the Kaptain I have effectively ended up with a second spare engine. Actually – the Mk1 from my original bike with the 40DCOE + high level 2 > 1 exhaust. It is an early engine and in reality I need a late engine as a back up for the Glemseck lump.
That means I will have a spare engine sat on the bench with no…[Read more]

Shout out for Kenny ????? I lost all my contact info when my PC was “kidnapped” with that effing ransomeware earlier this year.
Kenny, been trying to find a contact for you.
I don’t want to abuse your good will, but I wanted to check that there is no issue for the continued loan of the engine parts I’m using for set up ?? You can no doubt see…[Read more]
