Finally move the old bike for a photo, engine will not turn over with electric start, fitted a starter clutch rebuild kit on Sunday, engine will now turnover with the spark plugs out, hit and miss with them in (more miss), will have to replace the starter clutch gear.
Hi Jimmy
You have posted this in your own space rather than on the forum. Less people will view it here. Check the boss on the starter sprocket and if the surface is slightly ridged clean it smooth with emery cloth. Ridges will make it chatter and slip. New sprockets are almost impossible to find. If it is sluggish with the plugs in that probably means the starter needs an overhaul.
Thanks. I will come back to electric start at a later date, it will now start on run with the kick start, presently checking what else may wrong with the engine.
