hi folks I’m looking at replacing the points on my bike with some sort of electronic ignition any recommendation’s ?…
Back in the olden days you would use Piranha or Boyer but these don’t come up very often.
I believe that electronic ignition from the LTD models (not G) can be fitted with a small amount of rewiring but I have never done that.
thanks for the reply,I was hoping there would be a “kit” I see they can be bought from the usa,I’ll need to look more…
excellent I’ll buy one tomorrow.
thanks again andy…
well I sent a couple of emails to that company, got no reply from them, guess they don’t want my money…
Have you tried ringing them?
I’ve just rung them. They have the units on the shelf at £110+VAT
I wonder why they never answered my emails
I’ll try calling them tomorrow
How did you get on Pat64?
I ended up going away for a few day’s so I’ll need to phone them once I’ve caught up on some sleep.lol
Haa Haa. I know that feeling well after just spending 4 days at a rally. We aren’t getting any younger you know
oh don’t I know it,lol
Hi guys,
I decided to make myself a X-mas present 😉
It is a digital ignition set from Sachse.
288,- Euros plus shipping.
Installation instruction as a link in the very bottom of that page.
It is not free programable, but one can select from 9 preset ignition curves.
Interesting is that the ignition timing is always set to 0° for crankshaft rotation from 0 to 400rpm. That should make it very easy to kickstart the engine without the risk of “backfire” 😉
In addition I picked the recommended Dyna ignition coil.
Will test that stuff and report as soon as it is installed.
Cheers, Michael
Very interesting Michael, I cant read the graph with the advance rates on though, Could you put a pic on of just that so I can read it 🙂 🙂
Regards Mike
