I was given a tip about 6 months ago for tidying up pitted chrome. Today I tried it and I am quite amazed with the results.
Clean and polish the pitted chrome as you would normally do. This gets rid of the rusty stains but still leaves the pit marks which can be a bit of an eyesore. Get a piece of tin foil (aluminium cooking foil) and press it into a ball to hold in your fingers and thumb. Now rub it over the pitted chrome area. It will start to be rubbed into the pitting and makes it far less noticeable to the eye. A great tip to delay rechroming
Hi KK,
have never heard if that, but can imagine it will work 🙂
Chrome is a very hard metal, pure aluminium is very soft. Can be pushed into the pits and can be polished as well.
Have a candidate where I will try that.
ThanX, Michael
Great tip, I had heard it before but never tried it. Will give it a go too 🙂
