ParticipantWell just back in from the garage. Trying the replacement coil. Still no go.
And now it looks like no spark at the points again……have had enough now. What with the thing not wanting to be sorted and no money thanks to hmrc i reckon it’s time to sell it on to some one who can sort it.
Think a grand is a fair price….

Participanthad a bit of a surprise today, my mate came round and said ‘lets get it sorted’
didn’t take him long, said battery is fubar and after fitting a replacement on, he declared the coil fubar too.
so gonna order a coil and battery and then see if it works. if not then there is still the guy in place for Thursday.

Participantwell I have done what I did not and can not afford to do, I have booked it in with a mechanic to have a look at. I am dropping it off with him Thursday and the guy it is going to only does older bikes, so fingers crossed I will have an answer by next week end,

ParticipantCheers for that Michael.
Won’t risk it then. Don’t want to make it worse.
will have to wait for pay day and then get a new one.21st March 2014 at 7:44 am #10435beef
ParticipantRight oh. Will do later.
Would a coil off a gt550 work on it. Got a spare one of them in the box of bits.

ParticipantThere is a spade connector on the back of the coil and the blue pushes straight onto it.
The yellow goes from a spade connector to a bullet connector then into main loom to handle bars.20th March 2014 at 8:17 pm #10433beef
Participantthere is a connector in the yellow one but the blue is a direct feed to the points, one wire unbroken.
20th March 2014 at 5:37 pm #10432beef
Participantthat’s what my wiring breaks down as, I don’t have a connection at the back of the coil to open to test.
have spent another two or three hours pissing about with this thing today….this bike is getting nearer and nearer to the for sale stage

Points were cleaned as well….20th March 2014 at 1:22 pm #10430beef
Participantnew condenser arrived today and I am now getting a spark at the points but no spark at the plugs.

ParticipantSpoke to z-power again today and got same excuse. “Struggling to find the condensor”
looked on ebay and there’s a few. But some show two. Some a black one and some a green one which appears to be the opposite way around to the black one.
question is which one should I have.
I will have a look at mine later. But i want to know which I SHOULD HAVE.
not what I have.Beef

Participanttango cheers for the offer, but I wont be able to work on it until next weekend anyway.
and to top it off my cx has started to go a bit loopy… all dash lights on at once and temp gauge going nuts when the lights are on. its a bad earth but need to take the fairing off to get to the wires properly,
