‘Looks like it needs a seat ASAP’

Rumour has it somebody on here may be making some shortly!!

Right then…. it’s getting the pressure wash treatment tomorrow, then an attempt will be made to get it running!! Anybody point me to a link to a basic start/ignition wiring diagram??–most of the loom is there but it’s been butchered, an insight into the relevant colours would help me out greatly.
Another couple of small points….if you look closely at the picture on thr first post does the gusseting on the headstock look original?? Might be me, but it just doesn’t look ‘factory’ Also, it’s got old style ball and cup headstock bearings—is this right, even Triumph were using taper rollers by 1979!! I will be upgrading to tapers obviously, just wondered if these were original??

Being new to these beasties, how do I identify what I’ve actually got?? Frame prefix is KZ750B, number is 0238**, it’s a ‘T’ reg, registration date 04/01/79. Engine prefix is KZ750BE, and it has the old outer cases with the ‘Kawasaki’ in slanted capital letters. Anybody identify it for me, in preparation for my hunt for bits!!

KK, sorry I took a while getting back, been away. I too would like to keep the old style casings, I’ll probably get them welded up eventually–first job is to get it running to see if it’s worth getting them repaired!! I will definitely be up for one of those seat units, please add me to your ‘keep us posted’ list!!

Thanks KK…..or is it Hoggy ?? I haven’t got round to the intro bit yet, I will do it later but thanks for the welcome. I’ve got the V5 with it, it used to be a caff racer apparently, hence the shortened frame loop. According to the frame number it’s a KZ750 B, and it’s got no tinware, but it was cheap!! I’ve got a tank and a lot of generic Kawasaki stuff, basically need a seat unit (toying with the idea of doing my own after seeing some of the #OOPS#e that’s around) and bits and bobs. Both the front outer casings are damaged, the right side one (with the sight glass in) has been gouged underneath the points cover, and the front left hand one has a piece missing where it butts up to the sprocket cover. Not the end of the world, both repairable if necessary but if I can source replacements at the right price……..
