Ran my last one on 440 electronic ignition using the igniter trigger on the original bobweights and that ran a treat. Had gpz500 carbs on too, don’t think they are that fussy about advance curves as long as the timings ok, I just set it up by ear.
Engine wouldn’t fit, the sump on a twin is too wide for just about any other frame, mores the pity.
Did I mention there’s a filter in the sump…. 😉
Then again theres always the beam frame route, air cooled fzr anyone?Possibly, but then again any oil filter is an oil pump filter, no pump no oil no filtration!
I stand by my ill founded statement!Bet you could get a 750 lump in a bantam frame!

Just occurred to me after I read dougyt’s blog about doing an oil change.
Dont forget theres a wire mesh filter in the sump, I took out the crank on my z400 due to oil starvation, as its not mentioned in the manual, when I was a yoof.
Especially worth a look if you’ve just rebuilt your engine with silicone sealant as any bits and bobs that get squeezed out rattle round in the sump go squishy and then flatten out on the gauze when they get hoovered up.
Pain in the arse to check but is cheaper and easier than fitting a fresh engine.Looks quite pleasant

?275 quid this morning, thats getting a bit steep. Still fancy building a diesel bike but I’m not particularly flush at the mo.
Bit of a sod to fit a ural chair to anything else due to the length of the frame it bolts onto….
be nice with this engine in it tho…..
