I think I’m going to have to live with it!
I have used a Metallic Pearl Paint and if I keep adding more paint to try and get it sorted, I risk changing the colour of the tank,it will start to appear darker! And if I try to rub it down to much to get rid of it! The paint will start to go lighter in patches where it thins to much!… That’s the…[Read more]

Well you will be glad to know.. That’s it off me today… Managed to get three coats of paint down on the tank and the tail piece. I have to let it bake off in the sun now for a few hours.
Then it will need a fine 1200 grit or higher to Flat the paint off before either more paint or lacquer.._20160515_165130.JPG

I Love this color.. It is very satisfying as it goes on..it sits really nice if you get it right, but it’s a pain in the arse when it starts to go wrong!
Let’s hope it can keep going on like this!

Didn’t think I would be getting this far today, but I’ve just got some body filler in that small dent that was left. Hopefully I can get that rubbed down today and there is a small chance I could start getting some paint down?

No as you can see all is good with the fitment of a Harley Davidson 1975 – 1985 fuel tap, to the Petrol tank of a Kawasaki B1 750 Twin 😉

Ha Ha… Nothing like the Doubt of a master such as yourself Michael to spark a felling of…. am I right?… Was the research I did correct?… Will that petrol tap fit my tank??
But I’m glad to say… Pffttt! I Never doubted myself for a second!!
(I say that holding my head down looking sheepish!) 🙂DSC_0035.JPG

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331655445929
This could also be handy to have at the price of it.

I’ve tested it and it is correct.
The filter mesh is a tight fit but I have had it in the B1 tank, so unless I come across any problem at the final hour. It should be straight forward.Let’s hope so shall we!
If this proves a good mod… It is significantly cheaper than a stock replacement. I paid about £20 delivered off EBay for the one I have.

Getting there it’s hard work but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end.

Also any little bump or blemish has to be sanded right back,as some are tiny rust spots under the paint!:-(

Cheers Michael. I will post up what and how I’m doing each stage of this revamp.
Next stage is to start rubbing the tank down.. I’m using a scotch pad on a drill this time, although the tank is in good condition, there are a lot of scratches in the paint that have been botched up before! Although it’s a lot more work these need to be sanded our…[Read more] -
