Hi guys,
we did some work today 🙂
Motor is in the frame !!!Not fully fixed and a lot of other things to do 🙂
Seat is now of a Honda MTX80.
Modified the base plate a bit, needs even more adjustment 😉
Just put the foam back on the base plate for the photo and fixed just right hand exhaust to give the impession of how it will look like.Tomorrow we will do some more work but don’t expect to test the bike or just even the motor.
The electrics need to be done and modified.
Sounds known ?
Yes, my Jekyll or Hyde needs that as well 😉
Will do both at the same time, so all the electrical stuff is prepared for that. Will take some pictures at daylight tomorrow.
Cheers, Michael and Nils
22nd February 2014 at 11:15 pm #10729KaptainkwakKeymasterIt’s making me want to play Michael. Looks awesome.
22nd February 2014 at 11:48 pm #10769MichaelParticipantHi KK,
makes me want to play as well 😉
And there is still an issue, but easy to solve 🙂
The rear tyre !
It is road legal but it is not crude enough 😉
I’ve got it for half the regular price but it doesn’t really match the NHS front tyre.Probably I will get that changed again !
These NHS tyres are just about 40,- Euros + work to change them. There is another issue:
The paddock where we use to ride, the grass is starting to grow. It has to grow high so it can be cut then, dried and used as hay. We are not allowed to ride there in the moment 🙁
But we are allowed to ride on an acre 🙂 It is deep earth and mud there, I am afraid the current rear tyre can’t cope with that.Looking forward to have a crude one as well for the rear wheel 🙂
Then we can play like real men !!!
Update on bike built tomorrow.
Cheers, Michael
23rd February 2014 at 9:17 pm #10770MichaelParticipantHi guys,
mades some progress today.
Motor is finally adjusted and fully mounted.
Started to install the electrics back to the bike, that’s fun ;-0
Old and dirty cables end in old and dirty connectors and some of them are modified, too!
Fantastic, love that 🙁Came to the electrics holder plate left hand side. It didn’t fit to the LTD Y1 frame. Couldn’t believe that, but stepped into my parts storage and found a very similar, but different holder plate.
Any ideas where the left hand shown holder plate is from ?
It has one stepped corner and metal latches to hold cables. The right hand one matches the LTD Y1 frame and has one angled corner and a kind of “single hole pin plug in” plastic cable tie.
Cheers, Michael
23rd February 2014 at 9:23 pm #10730KaptainkwakKeymasterThat is interesting. I thought they were all the same
23rd February 2014 at 9:30 pm #10771MichaelParticipantHi KK,
I thought that as well 🙂
The left plate can be easily adjusted with a metal saw and would fit as well, but now I am curious to find out 😉Will post some pictures of a stripped bike with a lot of cables left to connect or to check if they are needed at all for a dirt bike 🙂
Will not cut them off, you never know !
Will check if they are isolated and prepare them to be stored somewhere with the wiring harness.Cheers, Michael
24th February 2014 at 10:51 pm #10772MichaelParticipantGot some cables to serve !
24th February 2014 at 11:13 pm #10731KaptainkwakKeymasterI could cry looking at that rainbow spaghetti lol. Good luck there Michael
23rd March 2014 at 10:09 pm #10773MichaelParticipantNils and me achieved some progress this weekend.
Drive chain is cleaned and mounted.
Some electrical connections were made. We have to find out to replace the main switch with the EPO (emergency power off) device and how to connect that into the rest of the wiring.Crash bar mounting position optimised, but may become even better.
Just a single picture attached:
“Same same, but different!”Cheers, Michael
23rd March 2014 at 10:21 pm #10732KaptainkwakKeymasterThat is looking so good Michael. Fingers crossed it will make it to Belgium along with all your other bikes lol
3rd April 2014 at 11:04 pm #10774MichaelParticipantThis coming weekend is boys weekend again.
We will do some work on the electrics. Maybe use some additional separate wires to gain final electrical function.
Then we can have a test run of the motor and finally a test ride 🙂Maybe we will go to Vienna / Austria to pick up the seventh 750Twin. It is in pieces, has some modifications and a lot of spare parts with it.
Highlight is the front fork of a Kawa ZX9R !
It is a kind of “surprise box” 🙂Vienna is 550 km single way away from us. Doing that with a car and a trailer (max. 100 km/h) in a single day both ways and we can start Saturday 12:30h at the earliest (lunchtime).
OK, let’s calculate 6h of travel time single way.
We will be there by 18:30h (early evening).
Packing the bike and additional pieces, having a chat, at least 2h.20:30h, Saturday evening, ready to start back home. 6h of drive.
We will be back at 2:30h (early Sunday night) at the earliest !We will see, not decided yet.
Have to ask my sons if they want to do that trip 🙂Cheers, Michael
3rd April 2014 at 11:25 pm #10733KaptainkwakKeymasterYou sound as mad if not worse than me.
I can only brag at 6 twins (sigh)
7th April 2014 at 9:29 pm #10775MichaelParticipant.
Made a test setup for Maria’s LTD Y1 Touring Edition:
– “new” bench (cover not fixed yet)
– rear carrier
– saddle bags
May be an option for Marko as well 🙂Abused the Dirtbike for that mock-up!!!
Have fun 🙂
Cheers, Michael
