stick a hose on it and clamp it to a set of bar in a vice, raise the open end of the hose so its above the level of the master cylinder, pump it slowly until all the air is out.
Now the fun part, pinch the banjo with your thumb and finger as hard as you can and slowly pump again, if its any good fluid should easily force its way out, don’t wear…[Read more] -

Pricey but well worth it. -

Fair comment, I’m not saying that high tensile bolts are a bad idea, I just think that the problem is more due to the bolts coming lose in the first place than their strength.
Soon find out if we all fit stronger bolts and the backplates start shedding their threads if there is a linear force.
Couple of other things, at least if the bolts shear…[Read more] -

Picked up a little Drummond lathe, all mounted up, its all there although there are no back gears and it looks grotty but if you gave it a once over you could hand feed it for making spindles, spacers etc.
If you restored it and bought the gears on ebay it would be quite a nice little thing as it has provision for driving the apron for sliding…[Read more] -

beachcomber replied to the topic Starter Clutch Warning…. in the forum How To Fix It 17 years, 11 months ago
Stainless is not the way to go, it work hardens due to heat or stress leading to crystalline cracking, not really not what you want on a starter clutch.
To be honest I’m not sure the tensile strength of the bolts is the issue, I’d guess that if any one bolt comes lose the other two are going to fail due to the starter clutch separating from the…[Read more] -

Have a tit about offroad before you do your cbt if you can, it’ll stand you in good stead.
It will also teach you how not to leave the expensive bike you buy after you pass your test on its side the first time you ride into a gravel car park. -

Please don’t take offence i’m just shooting the breeze, cg’s are absolute bedrock motorcycles, solid dependable and a hoot to bomb around on.
‘ConGruent’ it gets you where you want to be?
I should work for one of those ad agencys, I’m at least as bad as they are. -

I quite liked catgut, had a series of bikes named pissywitch, mostly due to their inability to keep their vital fluids internal.
Here’s a few more ‘ConGenital’ its rusty crusty and hangs under your bollocks like a wart?
‘Contrarotating Gears’ thems what drive the pushrods.
‘CoGniscienti ‘ you know whats going around. -

I had a monoshock xl125 with a cg125 engine in it, initially it had a short lived hybrid engine, one crankcase half was xl125 the other was cb100n, only problem was half the hole in the crankcases was 125 sized and the other half has 100cc sized.
After a judicious bit of whackery with a hammer and a wood chisel both sides were the same size, it…[Read more] -

You can fit the whole lot off a 440 twin or use half of an early four pot 750 setup. I’ve already hoarded a 440 set for my chop. 😯
