belt sprocket will match the shaft, but shaft is longer and there is a different (longer) spacer used.

But it will not work !!!

Think about the clutch pushrod of the earlier engines.
There is no space to fit the pushrod and the front belt pulley.

German TÜV-regulations from the 1980s didn’t allow to mount the rear flashlights to the frame ends as elsewhere in the world.

I’m sure to find a “good” one in my stock, but have to travel for the next four days.

Needs some preparation before welding to new position.
Rear flashers in new old position 😉
Fitted a pillion grab rail.

Recessed footpegs and their holders are a challenge. Needs repositioning.
Will do the rear brake actuation similar to Beachcomber has done it.

If you have any doubt about the condition of this cable, replace it !
Check correct/needed/improved cable diameter size, as there is no fuse in this powerful electrical circuit.
In this case: “Bigger is better!” 😉

Hmmm,
a warm engine is harder to turn than a cold engine.
Probably the engine heat warms up the starter motor and eases its job ?

First thing to do is to clean the collector and to fit new brushes/coals[?].
Also clean the gaps of the collector with a small tool. Soft material (plastic) is prefered over metal objects.

Ok, next idea is to change the rear frame while keeping the stock rear light.
The upright metal plate that holds the rear light needs to go inwards a few centimeters (approx. 5 cm / 2 inches)
Needs some cutting and welding 😉

I am getting quite intrigued as to how the finished item is going to look.

During our Summer Party:

Try again with a car battery via jump start cables connected.
If that shows the same result, most likely the coals/sliding contacts in the starter motor are worn. Check the springs as well. Repair kits available, at least in the USA.

There shouldn’t be a difference when using the starter motor, either with cover fitted or not.
