Michael replied to the topic chain to belt? in the forum Technical Garage 9 years, 1 month ago
Guys,
belt sprocket will match the shaft, but shaft is longer and there is a different (longer) spacer used. But it will not work !!!
Think about the clutch pushrod of the earlier engines.
There is no space to fit the pushrod and the front belt pulley. It might be possible to swap the clutch actuator to the one that is used at the BD-models…[Read more]

It will be on its way to you tomorrow. Had it done with stainless steel tube so as to minimise the chance of corrosion getting in the fuel

Glemseck 101 is a real great event.
In total more than 40.000 visitors during the weekend. We (the german Z750Twin community) may attend Glemseck 101 in 2017 with an own pavillon/tent. Trend and poll is positive.
This year Thomas from Hamburg showed some of his customized Twins.

I have visited the Glemseck 101 and Thomas from Hamburg showed his Z750Twins.
One is with a real nice exhaust that would fit a Scrambler best: -

Hi AtLarge,
this is the typical german setup !
German TÜV-regulations from the 1980s didn’t allow to mount the rear flashlights to the frame ends as elsewhere in the world.
I’m sure to find a “good” one in my stock, but have to travel for the next four days.
You will only need the metal base, we may call it the “rear cross”.
Your stock rear…[Read more]

Hi Andy,
that is a hard decision !
Will you leave the site online and just remove the possibility to become a new member ?
It would be very sad to loose that much of information and pics.
Maybe I can host the collected information on our german website if you don’t want to keep the website alive ?
We stay in touch 😉
Cheers, Michael

Tinkered a bit this weekend 😉
Rear light holder plate already cut off.
Needs some preparation before welding to new position.
Rear flashers in new old position 😉
Fitted a pillion grab rail.Recessed footpegs and their holders are a challenge. Needs repositioning.
Will do the rear brake actuation similar to Beachcomber has done it.
Thank you,…[Read more] -

If you have any doubt about the condition of this cable, replace it !
Check correct/needed/improved cable diameter size, as there is no fuse in this powerful electrical circuit.
In this case: “Bigger is better!” 😉Pay attention to have good positioning (90° cable shoe) and insulation of this PLUS-cable against batterie holder and frame.

Hmmm,
a warm engine is harder to turn than a cold engine.
Probably the engine heat warms up the starter motor and eases its job ?First thing to do is to clean the collector and to fit new brushes/coals[?].
Also clean the gaps of the collector with a small tool. Soft material (plastic) is prefered over metal objects. To disconnect the…[Read more]

Ok, next idea is to change the rear frame while keeping the stock rear light.
The upright metal plate that holds the rear light needs to go inwards a few centimeters (approx. 5 cm / 2 inches)
Needs some cutting and welding 😉
Will change rear light holder to US-version without flasher holder (already in stock).
Rear flasher will be mounted at the…[Read more] -

Try again with a car battery via jump start cables connected.
If that shows the same result, most likely the coals/sliding contacts in the starter motor are worn. Check the springs as well. Repair kits available, at least in the USA.There shouldn’t be a difference when using the starter motor, either with cover fitted or not.
Is there a paper…[Read more] - Load More
