I am getting a bit confused now Beef. I feel I need to see the bike and trace the wiring as some things seem to be non standard. The Black wire on the Starter Solenoid should be positive (when the starter button is pressed) and the Yellow/Red wire should be negative (constant).
I have recently (last night) run through this part of the circuit…[Read more]

Looks like we have cracked it. The black wire from the harness that supplies a +ve live to the starter solenoid when the button is pressed appears to have a fault. We have temporarily by passed this wire with a working result. Tango is going to do this properly and hopefully the starter circuit will then be fixed and working properly. It was…[Read more]

Now that wouldn’t surprise me at all Michael.
Did you know that 98% of Hardley’s are still on the road? The other 2% actually made it home 😆 😆 😆

Quote BEEF; so from left side engine case I have three yellow wires. the got to a block and then to the rectifier. then a white to starter relay??
and a black to battery positive terminalNO. The White should go to battery positive and the Black to Battery Negative.
The Black from the regulator should go to the Negative circuit NOT the starter…[Read more]

Priced respoking today. OUCH!
To strip the wheels, blast and spray the hub and replace all spokes with Stainless – £142 Each wheel. It is £16 less each wheel if you use galvanised spokes.
I am going to check the condition of the wheels on my New Mexico import. Chrome looks fine and fingers crossed the spokes just need tidying up.

Didn’t you have a similar problem with yours Dougyt? Seem to remember the irony as they tried to find a bigger tool to remove the tool that caused the problem and sadly failed 😀

Yes Michael I agree totally with what you say. I have not looked at that side of the story simply because the indicators worked fine on both sides before I changed things. All I have changed on the indicators is the heads from the round CSR ones to the rectangular LTD ones so the rest of the circuit is the same and should work.
I have not checked…[Read more]

Does it have the 3 wires Green, Brown and Black?

I’ve had a bit of a setback tonight. Had another look at the front wheel setup. I am not happy with it. I have faffed about but can’t get the disc spacings and speedo drive right. I am going to have to revert back to CSR wheels but don’t have any good enough. Fingers crossed the spokes are solid and I can clean them up for now otherwise I am…[Read more]

Only a bit of progress tonight. The rear brake light switch (new switch and re wired) is now working and the clutch cut out switch is now wired up.
I do have a strange electrical issue though. I have wired up the indicators and the left side is fine. On the right both indicators light up and the idiot light comes on but they stay on constant and…[Read more]

The Neutral light wire (red) and Oil pressure wire (grey) do NOT hook into the charging circuit. They just follow the charging circuit wires for a short spell and the Brown and Green wires share a 4 pin plug but are not connected to each other.

OK here goes Beef.
The B1/B2 Generator has 2 separate coil assemblies in it. The outer coil ring is the charging circuit. It has is 3 windings each with a Yellow wire. These wires go to the regulator which in turn goes to the battery.
The inner coil supplies electric direct to the wiring circuits when demand is high. This is the one that makes…[Read more]

Your support Michael is greatly appreciated and helpful. Thank You. Tango’s twin WILL make Belgium as it is. The problems we are dealing with I knew about and were going to be dealt with but Tango is keen and needs to sort them now lol. Well I don’t have anything else to worry about at the moment do I? 😆 😆 😆

I would guess all wires in that area should be connected Beef but I am unsure which the green wire is. You have a B1 wiring harness on yours.
Can you tell us where the green wire comes from?

I have managed a bit more tonight. I called in at an auto parts shop on my way home and bought some wire connectors (crimp on bullets and spades). Since I got home I have managed to wire up the front brake light switch and have also polished up the new nose cone. It isn’t perfect but is good enough to be seen in public. Tomorrow will hopefully see…[Read more]
