The “black guy” showing the “V”ictory is my son Nils on his Aprilia Rotax 650. I had some fun with his bike as well 😉 The red #76 is a Yamaha FZR1000EXUP we brought to the racetrack as well. Freightening fast, but to big for this small racetrack.

Hi Max and welcome.
We have a few members across the pond in the USA and like Philpass says parts are still in abundance there. Our only problem is when sellers aren’t realistic with postage.
This is a quiet site but we are dedicated to the Kawasaki 750 twins. We have a wealth of information and help so feel free to browse, comment or ask…[Read more]

Michael replied to the topic valve adjustment in the forum How To Fix It 8 years, 5 months ago
Hi Jett
Firstly you need to measure the valve clearances. When you have determined which (if any) shims need replacing you will need to know what size shim is already fitted so you can work out the sizes you need.
You will need to remove the valve cover but the rest can all be done without removing the camshafts.
Shims can be found on fleabay…[Read more]

Hi Sam,
if required, cut the downpipes at the very rear end.
Do not cut them right below the engine as this turns out to be to short. An angled extention tube is required otherwise.
In Germany one of our members (Peter) is manufacturing SS downtubes, long versions with integrated 15° upswept. You may fit any aftermarket silencers to…[Read more]

Hi TJ,
the screw size is an issue in itself.
The mounting torque of the smaller one (MF10 x X) is 75 Nm, while the larger one MF12 x X) gets 120 Nm.
If the smaller one was overtorqued you can even see with bare eyes that it is lengthened.
To fix this screw correctly, directly impacts the function of the starters freewheel clutch.
It must be…[Read more]

Hi TJ,
this time it wasn’t me 😉
I fully understand why it is required to change the concept as often as needed.
There is something in mind and a POC shows that it might or might not work.
I would try to get any external device driven from the ignition side of the engine. There is a “dry area” with a sealing ring in the clutch cover.
All…[Read more]

Workshop:
Ordered a spraying device, to be blown by a compressor, to paint the walls in white.
Will save the brick optic, looks clean and will enlighten the room.
In addition I will mount the lamps from my existing workshop over here.Parts storage in the loft needs some construction work to create a reliable floor to walk on. Only the loft…[Read more]

Hi Sam,
welcome to the forum.
Despite several individual technical differences there are two different flavours of our Twins in the market.
The touring versions called “B”-models or the Chopper versions called “LTD” or “CSR”.
You have to decide first which one is the style you are looking for.
As soon as the new Lonesome-Twin website is…[Read more]

Hi TJ,
I had a “dry ice blast” to my engine before I’ve removed any cover.
It was approx. 100,- Euros for that but it is worth it 😉Having your bikes condition in mind, that would be a great help to work on a clean engine without the rest of the “green”.
Finally I have understood the additional oil pump installation. It is in addition to the…[Read more]

Hi Jett,
to set to PRIME eliminates any fuel flow issues related to the vacuum line and membrane in the petcock.
It is easy to do and if nothing changes, then one of the possible culprits is excluded and we are coming closer to the real cause for that issue.
Cheers, Michael
PS: Don’t park the bike with petcock in PRI position.
Always set back…[Read more] -

Hi Jett,
just my thoughts:
1) You are aware of how to use the choke correctly ? (Silly question, sorry for that ;))
2) Engine off, ignition cover removed: Check the timing advancer of the ignition. Does it move freely approx 15° when turned by hand ? Turn it from stop to stop. Does it stick in any of these positions ?
3) Check tightness of…[Read more]

Hi TJ,
good to see you working on the oil supply of the turbo.
I have fitted the Tarozzi recessed footpegs in the same position as you did and found that the thread size is not matching.
The thread in the frame is “japanese standard” with MF10x1,25 (fine), while the Tarozzi stud is M10x1,5 (european norm thread / more coarse)
The bolt of the…[Read more]
