20th May 2014 at 12:43 pm #9912TangoParticipantNot Long to go now! … 23 Days
I have asked if there are any plans for Sunday?
I am thinking of doing a short ride low mileage day out to Bastogne.
We would not have to leave to early in the morning, as some people will be leaving on the Sunday, and I don’t wish to appear rude by leaving to early on a day out.
Bastogne is meant to be a lovely tourist town, so lots of cafes and tourist type shops. It is also a town with some military history. So there are some monuments and interesting sites and museums to see.
Also not far from Bastogne is a small town called Foy. I have an interest in seeing the Fox holes in the Bois Jacques woods just outside of the town. There is also a monument left by Tom Hanks to the men of Easy Company of the 101st Airborne depicted in the TV Series “Band of Brothers”
below is a map of a rough route that I have in mind.
20th May 2014 at 1:11 pm #9913TangoParticipantHmmmm It will not let me upload the map?
I will speak to KK about the route, but it is 110km round trip, thats just under 70 miles. It is about 1 hour ride each way?
Give a stop of about two and a half hours in Bastogne, and a couple of half hour stops on the way back for some photo opportunities? we would be looking at about 6 hours?
Leave Camp at Mid Day (12.00hrs) and back early Evening? (18.00hrs)

20th May 2014 at 7:04 pm #9863KaptainkwakKeymasterWell done Tango 😉 .
Looks god to me. My guess would be 5 hours max but then again we aren’t tied down to time. Bastogne does seem to be quite an attractive little town.
20th May 2014 at 7:33 pm #9915TangoParticipantYep and La Roche-en-Ardenne
on the way back is an old medieval town, with an old medieval castle
well worth a quick stop. 🙂20th May 2014 at 9:02 pm #9948MichaelParticipantHi Tango,

26th May 2014 at 7:47 pm #9916TangoParticipant:hammer: Well Folks its getting close to the trip now, and I was thinking about getting some video of it.
Well I’m glad to say my wife and children were listening to me going on about this, And they have very kindly bought me a Sony AS30V Helmet Cam for Fathers Day, as it is when we are away! 🙂
Thanks Family!! 😀
I will do a quick sample video to see how it looks, and you can get an idea of what the camera will produce for some memories of our trip. 😉
