    Ah no worries.

I didn’t realise you weren’t using a twin front end.

Will we be seeing some build pictures soon that resemble a bike?

Pix soon – just waiting for my new fork top tube nuts to arrive from the US, then the forks and wheels can be assembled into the frame.

The engine has had a good soaking in Gunk .. another application next week followed by a pressure washing and I hope the motor will be ready for prep and painting.

Just waiting for the 4 way fuse box to arrive and that’s the electrics undertray completed. The seat base and side panels will seal it off from the elements.

Anyone spot the deliberate error ???

Originally the underseat tray was going to come much further back, and the mini Gel battery was going there.

Then I decided to shorten the tray to it’s current shape …so the battery goes where now ???!!!!

OK,I’m making a plate to go over the fuel pump and coil [ double decker ] and the battery can live there. Thank goodness for Gel batteries – the one I have picked [ 12 a/h 190 amp ] is tiny [ relatively ] at 150mm x 86mm x 107mm and will fit quite comfortably on it’s side.

Undertray now rearranged with best Blue Peter 12 ah Gel battery mock up in place.

The coil has had to go underneath the tray, but covered by the side panels. Just the 4 way fuse box to arrive – then the fun starts – the wiring !

I also decided it’s time to get some colour on the “tins” – can’t wait to see the Yellow !

First job – make a “spray booth” – done – then a couple of coats of Zinc Etch primer, and hope it doesn’t react like the rattle cans did [?]

All rubbed down and final coat of etch primer – ready for primer filler.

No reactions so far – fingers crossed. Although I am now using “proper” paint rather than rattle cans.

Ref my previous rant about the cost of those 4 little “dust cap” thingies that go inside the calipers ….. bit of lateral thinking – 3/8″ Chevy valve stem seals – £1 each !!!!

I’ve now got all the relevant nut / bolts fixings that went AWOL while the bike lay “resting”.

Still waiting to sort out the fork nuts – the ones that came from the US were slightly too big enough !!

Primer / surfacer [ cellulose ]went on without any dramas. I’ll leave it for a day or two and the give it a final flat off ready for stopper and then final prime – ready for the Yellow.

The 4 way fuse block arrived today – excellent quality [ Chinese ] and only £3 !!

Bars mocked up and I’ve just ordered a new 7/8″ twistgrip and combination horn / light switch.

What’s that about 2 steps forward and 10 back ???

The primer surfacer HAS reacted – I can only assume with the original rattle can primer I sprayed. Good job it was before I sprayed the yellow top coat !

Desperately need the cups that go on the end of the swing arm to retain the grease on the spindle. They are also acting as spacers. The seals are not a problem as I have GBFO box of assorted seals going from tiny to huge.

Still NOT resolved the fork top nut situation yet – really bugging me now.

However, the good news is my lateral thinking with the dust caliper seals worked ! A pal gave me a handful of Escort rubber valve stem seals – perfect.

If you had to buy – about £4 for 10 !

A couple of weeks of inactivity caused by the depression felt after the paint reacted. Most of the toys back in the pram now and back to it !

While I was in “bike ignoring” mode I decided to extend the working area in my man cave ….. so ALL the winter logs now in THEIR new shed in the garden ! I also took the opportunity to extend the “spray booth”. Aren’t you all jealous now !!!!

My Chinese all in one handlebar switchgear has arrived – superb, can’t fault quality or finish – or price !

I’ve decided to completely re-arrange the underseat electrics – should have got ALL the components to hand before starting out! Note to self ………

The seat and mudguard were finally beaten into submission and took a bar coat that didn’t react ! However, I decided to play safe and I sprayed them with the Satin Black textured paint I’m using in the engine / box.

The fork top nuts are still giving me a headache – down to my machine shop guy next week with all the parts and say “Make that fit ” !

I decided to hide the wiring for the Chinese mini switch through the bars – worked out OK.

And then the swingarm end caps came forth ………………….

Yep, whilst looking through one of three boxes marked “KZ750 parts”, I came across a couple of crud infested items that turned out to be the missing swingarm end caps !!! Whoppeee.

That means the swingarm can go in next week – a step closer to getting the rolling chassis on the floor.

The machine shop guy was away last week, so a trip down this week will hopefully see the fork top nuts sorted.

While I was in the shed, I decided to pull the under seat electrics tray off to finalise the seat mount brackets and finally position all the electrics. ALL now to hand, including the gel battery – £21 delivered – that’ll do nicely.

I stuck some hi-density foam on the inside of the tray to isolate all the electronic components – but I did remember to bolt some earth points through as well!

The engine / box has been gently soaking in Gunk for the last 4 weeks, so another Gunk down and power wash will hopefully get it pretty well ready for final cleaning and painting. Then it’s off to my pal who is going to weld up the Weber 40DCOE manifold for me.

That just leaves the exhaust as the only major farm out job.

Doesn’t look like a couple of week’s work does it!!!! But that was before the paint reacted – twice. And that was despite using a bar-coat.

So instead of Zinc Yellow, they’re the same satin Black textured paint I’m using on the engine. Tank and side panels will still be in Yellow. Not expecting any problems with them as I’m using Cellulose from the outset.

My machine shop guy is away until after Christmas – no rush then.

Just a public thank you to all those who have advised, cautioned, encouraged and assisted in my first year here.

After a slow start and a change of workshops and building my Man Cave I am now back on track – however a series of close family health issues has taken precedence in the past 2 months.

So- looking forward to a more productive 2016 and may I wish all here a Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year.

Due to life changing circumstances I am having to abandon various car and motorcycle projects.

I am offering them first to forum / club members as the builds have been well documented with pictures.

[ UK based of course ]

ALL are to be termed “projects” to be completed. Most parts have been bought new where required or refurbished. ALL will require some smaller parts to complete.
It would be great to see at least some of them completed before it’s too late. All are unique in their own way and once completed would not be seen as someone else’s makeover.

This is a deeply regrettable situation as these projects have been my ongoing passion for the past 4-5 years. Bikes in general for almost 60 !

Of interest [ or not ! ] here is
my Kawasaki KZ750 [twin ] Flat Tracker, but as that is almost complete, I’d prefer to sell it as a complete package.

All will be open to sensible offers – failing that they’ll go on E-Bay [ UK ]. There’s a 9 months + time frame for this – so I won’t be giving the stuff away. I’m based in the Midlands area – B98 7JT

I’ll still be around the forum for the foreseeable

The cull is under way now – my TR1 Cafe Racer project has now been sold and I’m going to concentrate on getting the parts all together for the KZ Flat Tracker.

I decided that’s the best way to do it, as I spent a whole day gathering the parts up for the TR1 !!

I’ll list up in for sale section as soon as the bits are all together [ ‘ish ]so potential buyer can see what’s there and what still needs doing.

The other reason for leaving this one until last – is I still have a faint hope of finishing it off !
