Don’t think its the tacho cable but not really had chance to investigate yet but the shorts problem with my shanks won`t be an issue !

Thanks Lonesome,
Yeah very heavy buggers for what they are. No centre stand on it until I find one but I`m looking at modifying the stand or as suggested trying a longer stand. Yeah love the bike seems to run ok just a few weeps of oil at front end to sort and that`ll do for now, just want to ride it a bit before I start doing anything major. Keep…[Read more] -

Hi again,
Hopefully the sleeves I had made have sorted the spindle issues, time will tell. Has anyone tried fitting a longer side stand to a B1 as mine seems to have a bit of a lean on. Cheers Joe. -

Cheers for the info KK, the trouble I have is that the conversion was done before I got the bike so I`m in the dark as far as knowing what has actually been put on. The sprocket, wheel and disc all line up fine but the spindle sleeves are missing so there is too much possibility of vertical movement for the spindle. I saw an engineer up the road…[Read more]

Thanks for your replies folks,
Still a bit confused , does that mean that when Z1000 wheels are fitted the spindle components sleeves collars etc are used from the 1000 or a mix of 750 and 1000, or should the set up be as the diagram kindly supplied by KK and ignore the 750 set up?? Cheers Joe. -

Does anyone out there know if when the Z1000 mag wheels were used as an upgrade did all the same sleeves spacers and even calipers get used as now its non standard I don’t really know which sleeves etc I should fit ! Any suggestions / diagrams would be greatly appreciated as the spindle at the moment has no means of being secure in the swing arm…[Read more]

Cheers for that. I`m in north Lancashire near Lancaster.I`ve got a spare set of 2 into 1 downpipes that also resemble the predator ones on the bike, maybe try getting them chromed and fit a slip on megaphone silencer ? Really good club, loads of interesting info and photos, I`ll try to upload some of the bike soon. I`ll bet someone knows it as I…[Read more]

Thanks Doug.
I had a bite to eat and a cuppa while staring at the wiring diagram and a few Ideas came to me. I went back to the sod, did a bit more multimetering and realised that there is no white wire coming from the reg/rec unit, so the cicuit is getting the alternators full output I think (hope). Phil comes galloping to the rescue with some…[Read more] -

In spite of me telling the lad to go steady with the polishing mop, he tried to do a very thorough job and knackered the exhaust pipes. I’m patching them up this week and he’s going to have another go at them. It’s a good job I intend to use exhaust wrap on them. The other bits he did are very nice though and I’ll still use him (not on thin…[Read more]

Hi Phil.
I don’t know if you’ve ever tried them, but I put some bar end weights on my BSA A65 and they helped a lot. -

Mine is’nt. Exhaust man is’nt interested so I’m going to buy some preformed bends and lengths of tube and have a go at making my own.
Wish me luck. -
joey replied to the topic Which Swingarm ?? in the forum New Projects 15 years ago
I’ve got a FZ600 swingarm( off Philpass as it happens). It fits ok and I put a 16inch, drum brake wheel it, but it did’nt look right with the sort of style I’m doing the bike in. If your doing a custom I think it would look good, though.

Hi Phil.It looks good and you should have put the side panels on. I love the lines of it.I’ve found my missing camshaft by the way, small boy was ‘helping me’ the little sod.

Thanks for that.I’ve done all that except I put the pics in a folder and they all seemed to up or download, what ever it is, its just that the pics dont appear. I even get the confirmation that my pics and message have been sent. Very strange. I’m glad I’m not as thick as I thought I was/am. I’ll have another go in the morning.
