It’s amazing what a wash can do. Still a lot of work to be done though.
Spoke to Phil at Zpower and he doesn’t think he has the valves but will check Monday and let me know. If you’ve seen valves I’m guessing the will be for a 4 pot but’s let’s see.
If you send me a definitive list of what you want I will put a price together. I definitely have…[Read more]

Hi Rob
They don’t need the rings. Another option you have is a firm in Manchester called NRP. You send them your slides and they fit the diaphrams for you. It does cost more, think it’s around £45 each.
Like the picture. What’s it like riding with those tyres on?
I’ve sent a PM about the rubbers.
Cheers

My God Karl you’ve got your work cut out with that one but full respect for taking it on. Think I remember seeing it on ebay? For your information the engine is a 1976/1977 B1 or B2.
If I have read your post right you have managed to get all you need except for rings. That I am impressed with but I am surprised you say Zpower have valves. I am…[Read more]

Hi Rob great to have you on board.
It’s good to see your getting use of your twin and now making her better than she was. Hopefully this site can help you get there.
Please check out the shop for any parts you need. The stock shown is by far not everything I can supply so if you don’t see it please just ask.
Would be nice to see some pictures…[Read more]

Blimey Karl that is a very sorry state engine.
As you suggest much of it is recoverable but it raises suspicion with the whole motor. The sludge is definitely a mixture of oil and water and the main question is what other bits has it damaged. Looking at the oil filter gauze there appear to be shards of metal which you need to determine where they…[Read more]

Hi Karl and welcome to the forum.
I have moved your post to the forum so people can see it. The forum is the place for these discussions.
The situation you describe are not any normal thing I have ever come across and I think you are lucky if there is no permanent damage done to the engine. You should NOT run the engine without fitting the…[Read more]

Evening all,
I have just started to strip my engine, not sure of the year, its in chop frame and has been rotting away in a shed somewhere for a very long time. Inlet cam appears to be slightly out, no damage but blew back though inlet valves. The cam chain tensioner is wrong, no springs and no plunger, just a thin rod, I think this is why valve…[Read more] -

The problem with the original silencers is they rot from the inside so once you see that they are generally shot. It is most likely that they will pretty much disintegrate when you chase for good metal to patch weld to.
There are some aftermarkets available but not many specifically for our twins. MAC in the USA make one but from my personal…[Read more]

That is great news Jon. These engines are bullet proof when they have been looked after. Regular oil changes are a must.
The starter clutches are a bit of a weak point but are quite easily overhauled. Shout up if you need any help.
Cheers

Hello Jon and welcome to our humble site.
That’s a great history you have there and I feel very positive you have a great bike there requiring minimal effort to make it roadworthy.
Apart from the exhaust and obviously the paint job she does look very much original. That includes the front mudguard as those dimples are where the top mounting…[Read more]

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to say hi after a long time! I hope you are all well and healthy.
My Twin is still running well, just needs some attention from time to time. In the meanwhile, I bought another twin – well kind of, it is BMW F800R. I use it mostly for daily commute to work , not a bad bike to be honest. Here is a summer photo of my…[Read more]
