My experience of road going knobbly tyres was that the grip was sorely lacking, especially cornering.
To each his own though, hope you enjoy the ride.

Unfortunately not, would have but for the rear mudguard apparently.

Just adding in that a poorly solenoid can also cause the starter to be sluggish. If the contact tips inside are burnt they will induce a high resistance and lower the voltage to the starter.

Would be good to organise a meet there for the twins. It’s very motorcycle friendly. I’m hoping to go to their bike night this Friday weather permitting

Spent many happy hours on one of them, it was indestructible despite us yobbish teenagers abusing it over the fields for years.

I thought it was just me he abused. At least I am far enough away and have caller ID on the phone…

I’d look exactly where KK advises, float levels, and the valve. It only takes a little bit of crap in the valve to stop it seating, sometimes (and I’m sure you will have tried this) a little tap on the carb will dislodge it and stop the leak. Looks like a carb strip is inevitable at this stage.

Glad you found us Random, and almost a local to me too. Just ask away if you have any questions, need any parts or just want to talk rubbish, we are here to keep the Twins going in whatever shape or form.
Look forward to seeing your project 🙂

Yeah I really should but I’m not one of those people who can ride and enjoy it randomly, I have to have a destination or it’s a very short trip. Even then I need to know I’ll be dry and reasonably warm, but mainly dry, wet jeans ruin my ride lol.

Mine are quite loud but no MOT tester has mentioned it yet. At least you’ll be noticed.
