  • Morning kk

Manual says thinnest shims are 2.2mm, mine are all 2.65mm and tight. Can you supply one 2.2mm shim and I will see what if any gap that gives me?

  • Evening jon

I had my frame powder coated gloss black for £110 however I had to take it back there were two rough areas on the headstock,  grease contamination apparently, shame was spot on otherwise,  still to pick back up. All being well I will get my rusty steel rims and hubs done next, not had price for that yet.

I like that colour on yours.

  • Parts arrived this morning,  thanks

  • Thank you 😊

  • Morning KK

Yes if you could sort four spring seats out that would be great, I ordered the shims just in case, i wasn’t banking on  vapour blaster finding them.

Also the clutch push rod has been ground away at one end?? If you have a spare can you send one please and a tab washer for the front sprocket if you have any thanks.

    Cheers karl

  • I have ordered some 25×35 1mm shims which should do the job. Attached are pictures of broken fin repair and where I am up to so far. Patience is a virtue, apparently.

    One step forward,  two back….

Back in the garage engine biggest part done, come to fit valves and have managed to loose valve spring seats! I remember I couldn’t grip them to get them out, forgot to mention to the vapour blasting lads, possibly still there, if I am lucky.  If not have you any? Also  went to pick frame up which looked gr…[Read more]

  • Ok thanks

thanks, I didn’t pay very much for this bike, I put a cheeky bid in on ebay thinking I might be able to use the frame, and won! Its then sat in the back the garage for over 12 months before i had a proper look, I downloaded a manual and i decided to see if the engine was salvageable. If I bought an engine I would still strip it to check it…[Read more]

Parts arrived today thanks kk, got cam chain in and cases together,  managed to snap m6 case bolt, long one inside under gearbox, have to come apart again. Not happy!

Had top end vapour blasted and valve seats redone, lapping in was never going to get them right, so some progress made.

  • Ok thank you, thought it was worth checking while its all in bits. Frames off to powder coaters tomorrow, hopefully get bottom end back together next week, still a lot to do but making progress

  • Good morning

Primary chain has 25mm measured in middle of top run of chain with top case off. My guides appear to be both solid mounted to cases, no sprung tensioner, top guide has no wear at all, bottom just a little. Think we be ok at that?

    Cheers karl

  • Rob

How’s your rebuild going, any progress any pictures?

    Cheers karl

  • Morning kk

I wo t be in garage for a week now, back on shift but I have been thinking…. primarily about the primary chain. There is no means of adjustment, whats the procedure for checking for wear? Mine does have a fair bit of slack but there’s no wear marks on the guides. Now would be the time to change it but if its within acceptable limits…[Read more]

    • Hi Karl. I remember when we first heard of Hy-Vo chains for primary drive use that we were told that they ran much slacker than a traditional chain, they are supposed to. Also that they don’t wear out! So you should be ok.
      Cheers, Colin.

  • Evening all (anybody out there?)

Did a bit more today, stripped head the valves look nice and straight just need seats grinding when it and the barrels come back from vapour blasting.

It took a full week of nipping in the garage pouring plusgas down the studs and whacking with a big mallet before the barrels came loose the pry points weren’t…[Read more]

  • Afternoon kaptain!

Looking at my tensioner, looks like a better cap would be good idea, this one will leak, can you add one to the order, if not already included, also do you have any serviceable cam chain tensioner guides? The front one on mine looks little worn and couple small bits missing mainly on the outer edge?

    Thanks

    Karl

  • Thanks Colin 😊

  • Ok try again and press submit this time!

Can you work out prices for the rings,  gudgeon pin clips (pins not needed), full gasket set, also seals (clutch push rod, gearbox, kicker, points, valve guide, any i missed?)

Also kicker cover, and exhaust clamps. As for camchain tensioner plunger and springs is all need i think? If you don’t want to…[Read more]
