ParticipantHi Andy,
as far as I have seen that is not the front wheel of a LTD Y1.
The Y1 has the aluminium rim with straight, “high” side walls, 48(!) spokes) and no visible punch for the spokes heads.
Attached a picture of Y1 front wheel:Have a spare part list for Y1, printed on paper here, but it is a copy of a copy of a copy, really bad quality !
May find a way to get that information to you.But not before Wednesday, I’m afraid.
I will check if I have a complete LTD Y1 front axle incl. spacers and speedo drive available to ship 🙂I thought you are using a CSR front wheel (chromed steel rim, 40 spokes) for this conversion ?
Cheers, Michael

ParticipantOoo Err!
I must be catching on! I understood All of that!

KeymasterIt appears your right again Michael. I was of the understanding these were Y LTD wheels but on comparing they appear not to be. I am believing they are Kawasaki as the axles, sprocket carrier, brake hub and discs all fit from my CSR. I do not know which model.
I have modified things and got a setup I am happy with. I just want a second opinion from my Engineer this weekend.

KeymasterThe headlight is back on and most electrics re connected and working fine. I have tried the starter clutch and that appears to also be working fine.
I will need new indicator stems as I cannot fit standard Kawasaki ones anymore on the headlight bolts (they were originally on the bars but I moved them).
Most of the bike is now assembled. I need to route and connect the hydraulic lines, finish the clutch mod and refit the tank and seat. Hopefully I will have all this done by Friday night, weather permitting.

ParticipantHi KK,
that are good news !!!
Doing major changes to a bike and refitting the parts, bits and pieces is always like the “Legend of the Phoenix” 🙂
Fantasting moments !
I love that !Looking forward to see some pictures !
Cheers, Michael

KeymasterWell it has been a testing time and still is. She is stuck in the garage at the moment on axle stands. As soon as she is freed I will post proper pics

KeymasterGot a few more jobs out the way today. Changed all the indicators for the rectangular LTD style ones. Changed the back light lens to a smoked version. Fitted a new horn.
I’ve also sprayed the nose cone black. Was a nightmare as I got a reaction in one spot. Rubbed it down, filled n sprayed it 4 times and still not perfect but it will do for now lol. Not sure whether to try and match the pin stripes on the tank or to paint a tank black and go for Kawasaki Green pin stripes.
I’ve a bit of rewiring to do for the indicators as they have different sized bullet connectors and also the brake light switch and clutch cut out switch need different connectors.

ParticipantHi KK,
hope you have fitted the horn in original position, using the stock triangular bracket to hold it 🙂
Stock position of the horn is a masterpiece of engineering !!!Cheers, Michael

KeymasterHi Michael
The horn is in the original position but it is an after market horn so only uses one of the m8 bolts. Nearly shat me pants when I tried it 😆

ParticipantHi KK,
you may fit the after market horn to the original bracket ?
It’s worth it 😉
The original bracket centers the horn right above the hole in the frame and it has some rubber stands to absorbe vibration.
Give it a try 🙂Cheers, Michael

KeymasterI am quite sure I will have the original bracket and rubbers somewhere but where I am not sure. I cannot be certain if they were on the bike when I bought it. I will try and find them and will give it a try if I do.

ParticipantIn the end just use one of your other twins 🙂
That “simple” stock bracket is way ahead of anything else !

Keymaster🙄 But I only have the one twin 😕
Ok Ok fair call. It’s a fair cop

KeymasterI haven’t managed any work on her today but I did manage to round up a few needed spares in Tango’s garage. Cheers mate. Not sure if I will manage to get anything done this weekend and I start a new job on Monday so it could be the following weekend before I get to see her again.
