This used baggage carrier manufacturer is from and well known in Germany called Krauser. OEM supplier for BMW in the 1970s and 80s.
This is a real crap !
It is made from modular components and individual fixing plates to match the bike.I have bought a Denfeld carrier (Kawasaki OEM in Germany in the 1980s). Mounted that to Maria’s LTD. That is…[Read more]

Hi Andy,
correct, it is a K1 BeltDrive model converted to chain drive, to be able to change the transmission ratio.
Not finished yet, but already rideable.
Status as it is right now:
Have to fiddle with the rear brake arrangement, connect rear blinkers and improve fixing of baggage carrier at the number plate mounting.
… and then go to TÜV…[Read more] -

Have ground the down tube collars to match.
Cut some fins of the collar to ease the mounting.
Fitted the exhaust and had a test run.
Yes, it works 😉
Idle speed not perfect, but ready to go!Will fit the pillion grab rail, baggage carrier and rear blinkers next and arrange a date for the TÜV.
Have to work on my VFR750 as well as it is over it’s…[Read more] -

Hi Hans,
I am interested in the “W”-shaped tool only.
I do not need the lever tool to remove the shim.
Lets see if there is some more interest.

Achieved some progress:
New tubeless tires fitted with a 90° angled valve in the rear wheel.
Of course I went for BT45.
Maria gave the writing on the tires a white color finish.Rubber bearing of the instruments improved and swapped lamps of the rev counter.
Made a new axle for the main stand incl. cotter pin holes, springs and stop.
Was…[Read more]

Well,
over here it is not the best weather to start into bike season 2016.
Wet at +6°C.We expect some snow this night and tomorrow, but it will not last for long.
Let’s see what we can achieve over Easter and hope for better weather 😉
Cheers, Michael

You have been a very busy man Michael especially getting your bikes ready for the season and your coming Birthday trip.
Due to major house decorating I sadly only got out to the garage on Saturday but did manage to fire up both my bikes.

Yesterday Nils’ Aprilia got the TÜV !!!
I am very happy about that and now the bike is legalised for road use.
Ok, still needs the insurance confirmation, official registration, new papers and a new number plate, but that is easy to achive (just queueing in an office) and not to expensive (lower than 50,- Euros).Cost to get the TÜV and the t…[Read more]

Hi Hans,
most of the typical wearing parts (chain sets, carb repair kits, brake pads, etc.) are easily available on the market.
We have issues with some dedicated engine parts! Sometimes it is easier and cheaper to swap the complete engine instead of repairing the “old” one.
I expect that some parts like plastic side covers, mudguards, fuel…[Read more]

Hi Hans,
CMSNL is a very good source for information 😉
Especially their parts diagrams and the stock part numbers are great.A lot of parts are not available anymore as NOS (new old stock) and CMS is dealing with that.
Their prices are quite high, as all the other NOS dealer have 🙁
Shipping from CMS is expensive, check that before ordering…[Read more] -

I am an experienced driver but with an ABS, me and my bikes wouldn’t have touched the ground 3x in the past 30 years. I don’t like the additional stuff that is needed for it, but I like the additional security it brings.
I can perfectly understand why there is the wish to have an ABS !Cheers, Michael

What I have used to get the bearing shell out ? Heat, hammer and screwdriver.
The poor frame !Have to clean the harms and major scratches (that I have caused during this action) out of the seat in the frame, where the bearing shell sits.
Then use the correct glue to install it again. At least it is removed !

Well, moved on this weekend.
Fitted the baggage carrier, rear blinker to it, found that the larger Krauser cases doesn’t match, are locked and I don’t have a key. So I will go with the smaller ones.
Front crashbar mounting optimised and fitted a rear left crash bar as well. This is ideal to move the bike onto center stand. Can’t fit the rear right…[Read more] -

Hi Hans,
it is the recommended tool after the other one is obsolete and should work.
To handle that tool it is important that the engine is complete. You can’t use it with the cylinderhead lying separately on the work bench.
How to use it ?
First measure the valve clearance and note down the number 😉
Ensure the small cut-out in the valve…[Read more] -
