My Z750 has Z650 forks on, and pushed through the yokes by about an inch and a half. They aren’t that much longer, and are easier to find.
I have a couple of pairs of Z750 forks from Ebay, all of which were pictured from the unpitted side, and arrived with bad pitting so beware if you do see some “good condition” ones for sale. -

I have a pair of wheels here, they’d need cleaning up and I believe they’re from a Z750.

testSubscriber replied to the topic alternator in the forum How To Fix It 15 years, 1 month ago
I’m not sure the rotor is magnetised, as there is a coil in the centre of the alternator which is fed power from the regulator. As the voltage increases at the output the amount of current in the centre coil decreases and lowers the output to keep it at the correct voltage.
I believe the rotor just breaks the magnetic field to induce the current…[Read more] -

Bike looks great Phil. I intend to start tidying mine up soon. I like the look of the tank.

The most likely fault is going to be the wiring into the headlight unit where it can get cut by the edges as it goes in. Also check where the wiring comes around the headstock as that is prone to cracking the insulation due to the flexing as the steering is turned.
I’d have to look through the wiring diagram to find out more though. I am assuming…[Read more]

testSubscriber replied to the topic carbs in the forum How To Fix It 15 years, 3 months ago
Sounds like it’s running lean. Have you checked the diphragms in the carbs, or for air leaks on the pipes between the carbs and the barrels?
Also check for missing blanking plugs on the vacuum test points.
I’d go for something simple before rejetting unless something else has been changed. -

Like your bike, the ikkle one is getting better by the day :). Back on her feet and just a couple of small patches to heal.
Good to see some major progress on the bike and hope it starts at the weekend. -
