ParticipantSpeaking as Lonesome I’m flattered that even 3 are going to make the trip, but I’ve got to say that the sound of a dozen or so of these things would frighten many horses and show the HD posers where they made their mistake. I’ll put feelers out on the Facebook groups, there’s still a lot around and a little momentum could get this thing snowballing.

ParticipantOnly a month later and I’m on the road. Nice day wasn’t it. Bike spot on, even started first kick every time. Thinking of approaching ChrisLWG re elctric start. The 2:1’s actually sound pretty good under power, you can hear so much more from the short pipes than the huge long ones that donate all your luvly decibels to the traffic behind. But finally I’m sorted for bikes and it’s a huge weight off my mind. Anybody want a dodgy XBR500?

ParticipantI (well actually my dad!) paid exactly £429 for my KH125 in 1977, less the £160 they generously allowed for my year-old fizzie. The KH lasted 6 weeks before I destroyed it in the hyde park underpass. I’d say that less than a grand for something that’s lasted best part of 40 years is a bit of a bargain.

ParticipantNever mind. Enough that you’re still thinking of us. There’s always light at the end of the tunnel, even if the bulb’s gone.

ParticipantAbsolutely vital. Can hold tons of tools, bungees, bulbs even sarnies at a push. I’ve never put an actual filter in there of course 😀

ParticipantNah, not the choke, just a float height/sticky valve snafu. Bit of a bugger they are, too high and fuel pisses out, too low and it starves when you demand whats left of its beans. About 3mm difference in height and no really good way of setting it up. Welcome to the Z750!

ParticipantVerrrrrry nice. Not jealous at all. 🙄

ParticipantYou’re welcome Leema. My only other tip is that BBQ lighting fluid is one of the best hand cleaners going. Oh, and that cleaning off rust is like dieting – the more you lose, the faster it comes back 🙁 Good luck with the wheels.

ParticipantIf the foil doesn’t work out get an old toothbrush and a tub of Eucyrymol from Poundland. Every bit as good as Autosol and much better smelling!

ParticipantOnly problem I’ve ever had with a bike standing out in cold weather was jumping on the seat and cracking the cover. Me & my fat arse! 😀

ParticipantNot temperamental at all. Just make sure the float heights are right, the diaphragms are whole and properly seated, the 2 units are balanced, the inlet rubbers are in one piece, the sliders slide freely, the moon is blue and the pope isn’t shitting in the woods and you’ll be fine.

ParticipantGreat link. I found this in the buy it now bargains at $259. If I had my pride and joy it would be the first on the list. Carbs matter on these bikes.

Participant😎 Well done, nice one. Hope it rides as good as it looks. Perhaps when it’s warmer eh? 🙂
