TangoParticipantHere’s what Im upto with the starter clutch, as you can see the cogs & chain are there but KK strongly thinks I am missing the springs & Rollers to lock it all up!
TangoParticipantOpps Same photo twice.
The Battery had been on charge over night and it was on the Maintain setting on the Datatool Charger. I have unplugged it while I work on the bike and I will take a reading before I come in tonight.
I am just about to see if I can find a spare B axle to get the starter clutch off! The more jobs I can get done before my day off on Wednesday the more Time I will have to fix what I find?
TangoParticipantHi Guys
I think I have a new gasket in my spares Cheers for that Michael But I have some Gasket in a tube if all else fails? 😳
I have got the cover off now!
TangoParticipantHell After 8 months I would have disappeared!
My Wife would have a well fed flower bed though!
Yer I think you had better not push that one anymore Beef! LoL
Arrr Well dont Worrie I have enough to keep this lot busy!! 🙂
TangoParticipantHi Michael
I am going to remove that cover, Not so much to look for the electrical problem.
Yes I will check I have no trapped or damaged wires while it is off.
But I need to take my starter clutch off to see if I have any of the springs and rollers in it?
My starter just spins the big cog and little cog with the chain on, It does not lock up and turn the engine.I hear what Dougyt said and I need to sort my electric problem 1st before fixing a starter.
But the fact is I need to know if I need to order a starter clutch kit
So I have to strip it down to see what’s needed? And I have a day off work on Wednesday so this is something I can do on my own. With a bit of luck a local supplier may even have a kit in stock.
TangoParticipantI May be the young Pup around here!
And I may Not have much Twin knowledge! But I have an Interest to learn
But I also have a Baseball Bat and No Ball to play with! So be warned you two! 😡 👿 🙄
TangoParticipantDougyt
I only have a Datatool Charger?
So I have put the Battery on charge now so it can trickle charge over a couple of days.
So with a bit of luck that will put a good charge into the battery.
TangoParticipantMichael
I put a lead off the – negative terminal straight to the frame and I made sure it was clean metal on the frame.
And the starter relay does not even click?
I did put the volt meter on the two posts on the solenoid and it showed me the same volts as the battery was showing.
TangoParticipantAnother Worry I have is there has been some changing of wires up at the Regulator and the Rectifier?
On my bike I do not have a finned block that I would know as a Reg/Rectifier Unit, It is two separate units!
TangoParticipantCheers for all the help Guys 🙂
I am going to need all the help I can get on this.
I do not have any idea when it comes to Electrics? and this could end my trip before it even starts! 😕I know dropping the oil is probably not going to help much? But I want to see what’s going on under that side case? I want to make sure that everything is ok behind the cover before I start chasing wires at the top!
Does the front cover come off without having to take the rear part that covers the front sprocket off?
TangoParticipantWell I have had to do something I was going to leave for now!
But I have dropped the oil.
TangoParticipantSo will the bike be creating its own power to run
So this is why I have had no issue when I’ve been riding it?I would never have known I had an issue if I had not of tested the battery by chance?
TangoParticipantNo increase in volts on increased revs. The battery shows 11.4 volts now ive had it on a Datatool Bike Charger for a couple of hours!
And no drop when I press the starter! Button with the motor stopped ?
TangoParticipantPhil I saw this one in a market in Cyprus.
TangoParticipant😡 Tease!
Tango looks around the room for his whip!
Mush .. Mush .. KK Yar!! :hammer:
