Found a shim not a KZ750 shim which was 200 so used this to get the readings I need as it gave gaps for all the valves. I would need shims 180-190, the smallest KZ750 twin shim is 220, balls it looks like the head will have to come off.

Why Wemoto for the switch? I can do those for £35 plus postage.
Anyway the switch is generic and used on various models. If memory serves me right you don’t need the spade connector wire. Just tape the end up and tuck it away. The 4 pin plug goes straight in and I think the bullet connector needs to be swapped for a female.

Hi All
am in the process of getting the starter motor refurbed and looking to replace the switch too.
I have looked on weemoto and found what seems like the correct part https://www.wemoto.com/bikes/kawasaki/z_750_b1_twin_(kz750)/76/picture/handlebar_switchgear_right
however it looks slightly different to the one that came off, in that the end…[Read more]

Hi All
I have found a guy to have a go at manufacturing Rear Grab Rails in STAINLESS STEEL. I have sent him one to copy and he has made a sample for me to check out which is on it’s way to me. The price for a One Off is around £100 but if we get a decent volume together it could reduce to around £80. I will post pics when I receive it.
Please l…[Read more]

Blimey, if he can refurb 750 twin starters with guarentee he is a hero and can have my money! My Project had a slow starter, a pain when trying to set carbs etc. I rooted thru my spares stash and fitted a dirty old starter to see if it was any better. It spins the engine like a washing machine! Best 750 twin starter ever! They are out there and…[Read more]

Hi all. I did the shims thanx to kk’s marvellous stock and put the engine back in and she runs and rides a treat. Registered as historic aswell. Just a final fettle and carb balance now when I have put a few more miles on, maybe tidy a couple of brackets and bolts up. Heres a pic

Thanks KK, I have sent this guy an email https://www.jasm.co.uk/ will call him tomorrow, I have 2 starter motors so I may try to get both done, if one is successful I will be happy, if both work I can sell one to someone here if someone is in need of one.
Worst case I will just have to improve my kicking technique

I’ll be giving it some stick on the dirt as soon as it’s registered, paperwork with the DVLA at the moment.

The way to test for the correct shims required is to fit one that is too small (the smaller the better) then measure the gaps. This way you can work out what sizes are required.

These are quite a rare commodity. In all my time with twins I have never seen a new one. No one makes an aftermarket version and as far as I am aware these are unique to our twins.
Like all things with moving parts they do have a limited life span and as the starter is unprotected at the front of the engine they get probably more than their fair…[Read more]

Hi KK
hope you are well, the bike is running and the final thing to get sorted is still the damm starter motor, the one on the bike is dead, a spare that came with the bike is in pieces and not in good shape.
Can you get a patten one that you know of, i looked on weemoto and they do repair kits but not starters, am hoping that you may know if a…[Read more]

Has anyone got a working Starter Motor for sale or know where i can source one?
I am hoping i may be able to get a patten one or the starter actually is inter changable with another model bike, as Z750 parts are scarce

Got engine out and measured the valve gaps, sort off. I can’t measure the gap on all valve as not even the thinnest gauge will go in, which will make getting the right shims a pain. Order a shim tool for the next stage.
