Hi Sweetie.
Welcome to the forum. A good mixture of members who are always willing to give a helping hand with spares or tech info.
Any chance of photos of your bikes?1st November 2015 at 6:48 pm #12859AERIAL0Participantthe joy of purchasing a turd is to bring it back to its former glory and takes time and money. And plenty of patience’s while trying to source the spares. Managed to bring mine back with a low budget and though not show condition, its a bike to ride everyday.
Have a telephone number of a guy who restored my seat who lives up North. Not cheap but a good job with new foam, cover and all trims.
All the best in your restoration.27th October 2015 at 6:49 pm #12889AERIAL0ParticipantLook forward to seeing the final job.
27th October 2015 at 6:26 pm #12315AERIAL0ParticipantHad the same problem. They don’t no there arse from there elbow.
The joy of restoring is an education I tell myself. But sometimes its more like a nightmare.21st October 2015 at 3:46 pm #12869AERIAL0ParticipantThank you. Spent mega Wonga on the beast from a new exh system which are like hens teeth to get hold of, but in the right place at the right time to purchase plus a new seat unit as well.
Still an on going project as lost spark after having running like a dream.21st October 2015 at 3:24 pm #12778AERIAL0ParticipantWill it be on the road b4 the council start laying salt on the highways?
Hoping to clock a few miles on mine b4 they do.9th October 2015 at 4:40 pm #12868AERIAL0ParticipantThe Z750’s bigger brother.
9th October 2015 at 4:31 pm #12867AERIAL0ParticipantExhaust is orig down pipes? to a pair of marving cans. The paint work was a pain in the arse to do with all the rubbing down and building up the coats to try and get a good finish. Used Halfords petrol resistant lacquer on the tank.
Only have 1 photo of b4. Please note blow torch in picture. Every nut and bolt had to be heated up and plenty of WD 40 to remove. Just need the mirrors and rev/counter cable to finish and a little more polishing. Then its back to the Z1300.7th October 2015 at 5:17 pm #12865AERIAL0ParticipantA brief history. Purchased over a year ago in a very poor state and every thing had been painted with a yard brush.
Had the s/arm, side stand, main stand and battery case powder coated.
Repainted the tank and all panels myself for under £20. Sorted out the brakes. new chain & sprockets and rear shocks. The rest has been elbow grease. Not show condition but clean and tidy.6th October 2015 at 6:37 pm #12866AERIAL0ParticipantThank you. Could not have got to this stage without the help of the forum. And the help of KK re spares and other members. More photos to follow.
21st August 2015 at 5:32 pm #12693AERIAL0ParticipantHe should have fun riding the bike and taking it to the rev limiter.
21st August 2015 at 5:13 pm #12645AERIAL0ParticipantHi Michael.
Had the same problem as yourself. And had to get the grinder out, but not as drastic as yours. Due to not been able to remove sleeve. Had to bend out supports after grinding of main sleeve, and dropped out. Had powder coated and refitted. Bent the lugs back and installed new bolts and all fine.
How’s your 2 stroke restoration going?22nd July 2015 at 3:39 pm #12048AERIAL0ParticipantHave purchased 3 items from them which where all cables. Rev counter, speedo and clutch. And as stated to fit a 78 B2 model. Did they hell. Clutch cable to long. Rev cable wrong thread and the same with speedo cable. Purchased 6 months ago and came to fit last weekend as bike coming along nice.
