Having gone through the same grief after spraying with Isolaor, you have my sympathy ! In the end I resorted to having the tank media blasted and started again from scratch. I went with cellulose as it’s what I’m familiar with.
No problems this time round !
Love the colour BTW.

I had a similar situation with my tank and seat cowl. Decided to spray a coat of Barcoat isolator before getting down to actual finishing with primer and top coat. Because I’m basically a sad old fart – I stick to what I know – Cellulose.
Anyway the primer reacted with the Barcoat !!! Oooops – that’s not supposed to happen.
I was that gutted…[Read more]

KK – problems sending PM again.
Re: cylinder head loan. Do you want me to pay a deposit etc. against safe return ?
I spoke to my fabricator pal at the weekend and he assures me there’s no way the head could be damaged in this process.

I appreciate your offer, many thanx.
Absolutely NO damage to the head. It just has to act as jig to measure for the tubes and spacing.
Why not use my own ? Well the engine is now assembled and the guy has to have the head at his workplace and can’t take a complete engine in ! The other reason is that he is often called away to mainland Europe […[Read more]

beachcomber replied to the topic Beachcomber's Flat Tracker project for sale in the forum Bike Related Sales and Wants 9 years, 6 months ago
Update.
I have sold my TR1 Cafe Racer project and quite a few odds ‘n sods.
I decided it’s best to sell one project at a time, as it took me a whole day to find the bits for the TR1 before the buyer came to collect!
So, the plan is to do just that – gather all the Flat Tracker parts up together then both buyer and seller knows what’s there…[Read more]

KK,
yes it’s been a pleasure to be around here, and YES, I am seriously gutted that I cannot complete the project.
However, I will still be on the forum bugging you all as I don’t need kidneys to use a keyboard !!!

Phil,
thanx for the kind words.
The short answer is – it could be !!!
I have to wait for the 6 month assessment [ June ] to see if the decline of kidney function has been halted ….. I’ll start worrying [ or not ] then !

Does that mean that a straight thro’ pipe
would be road legal ???That’s great news as I did not want to fit any silencers to the twin high level pipes I intend to fit to my Flat Tracker. I was contemplating some sort of mute insert – a la Volkswagen Beach Buggy style, but would rather not !!

KK,
sorry for the delay in responding – been one of those months !
You know I have the weird wire wheel – will it fit ?
I only really need stanchions as the legs have been sent off for powder coating and I have new seals and springs.
Thanx as always

beachcomber replied to the topic Wire spoked wheel wanted- any condition in the forum Bike Related Sales and Wants 10 years, 9 months ago
HI KK,
can’t see how to PM you.
I could do with price for the wheel and disc. And also for the complete set up including forks.
My pal is having one more go at removing the spindle from my wheel. He’s taking it in to his mate’s workshop at the weekend.
