I wouldn’t prefer the width either, but it was necessary.
Cases sit adjacent to the rear shocks now, and not behind as it was originally ment.
As the rear frame is shortened, there is nothing left to fix the carrier to in the back.

A small clearance between cases and rear shocks is needed, to avoid damage.

Just saw that there are no stock screws used. Well, what a surprise 😉

Except the front mudguard everything looks to be stock. Mileage is 77.800 km. Electrics / wiring harness are not modified.

As a Tottenham supporter I am unable to get any joy from ‘Dark Pink’ colours. That word (DER backwards) is banned in my house.

I must be honest though with the painted engine it is far to much in my opinion.

a drum brake in the rear of a B-model can be achieved by using the rear wheel and parts of (early) Z650s.
Gunnar has done it before and here are the pics of his bike:
