She is coming along well and looking very good mate. I am really impressed with the quality and the progress. Hopefully it won’t be long now before we see her running again.

No problem Jon.
Get a piece of M12 threaded bar approximately 650mm lg. Bend around 150mm at 90 degrees to form a handle. On the other end fit 2 M12 nuts and lock them together flush with the end of the bar. The 19mm nuts fit inside the inner fork piston head to hold it still while you undo the allen bolt on the bottom. This is only good on the…[Read more]

That’s fast progress and looking really good so far. It is quite surprising at times just how much a coat of paint can make such a difference. Can’t wait to see the tank, panels and tailpiece.

I remember that one on ebay not too long ago. I was going to bid but backed off last thing as I was furloughed with no help and I have very little room here.
She does look a good one and fingers crossed you get her running soon.

Hello Jimi5150 and welcome to the site.
It is a bit of a grim story you tell so far so let’s try and give it a happy ending.
I would like to know a little more about your bike (age, model etc) so we can ore accurately help and advise you. Any chance of a few pics? I have a decent stock of used and new spares here and can get most parts through…[Read more]

Fingers crossed Karl. One way or another we will get it done even if you have to get a new head but hopefully it won’t go that far.

Hi Karl
Preston isn’t that far from me so if I can help there just shout up.
I assume he is grinding the valve stems down to create a gap. We can also grind shims if needed. I believe they are hardened through not just the surface.

It is likely that the re cutting of the valve seats has reduced the gaps significantly. Grinding the valve stems is one way of combatting that issue if re shimming isn’t able to sort it out. I also believe it is also possible to grind the shims as they are hardened through and not just surface hardened. Let us know how you get on.

If I haven’t got items here my first port of call is Zpower, then ebay where I try and do deals. When Zpower are stuck they come to me. Send me a list of what you want and I will quote you. I have now helped quite a few members.

Well indeed a positive start Karl. I’ve picked up some more shims so we should be fine whatever sizes you need.

Hi Karl
I only have 2 x 2.2 shims so there is a 2.3 on it’s way down to you mate which should be fine to determine the sizes you need.

Hi Jon
That sounds expensive for powder coating. I got all mine done for £120 although didn’t include my wheels as they are spoked.
There is a spacer in between the bearings. This is a tube and has a collar at one end. The collar is to help hold the spacer concentric with the I/D of the bearing so they line up for the axle to pass through. The…[Read more]
